Taxation of the Digital Economy

The reality of the new the new digital economy is that businesses and their customers are no longer bound by Geography. As we have experienced during this lockdown period, transactions can be executed without obvious gatekeepers ( customs, immigration etc.). Taxation of the digital economy therefore becomes a challenge.

In a similar way companies can move bases across countries with extreme ease. IP can be transmitted across geographies with the click of a button and as Mukesh Ambani famously admitted, Data is now a commodity . The question still remains. How should such Digital economy transactions be taxed?
